PTC Creo Helps FourthWing Cut Time to Market by 50%
1. PTC Creo helps FourthWing cut time to market
by 50%
PTC Creo is affordable and existing Pro/ENGINEER data doesn’t require
conversion
2. 2
“PTC solutions have always been
powerful tools for companies with
complex and large assemblies.”
“Capturing a view of a cross-section or
an internal component used to take 15
minutes. Now I can do it in 1/4 the time
using PTC Creo.”
Todd Colten,
Lead Aerospace Engineer

I n i t i a t i v e s
• Reuse legacy data in new spinoff
company
• Dramatically compress development
time
• Ensure CAD technology is easy to
use
• Communicate ideas effectively to
colleagues, management, and
partners
S o l u t i o n s
• Migrated from Pro/ENGINEER
Wildfire 4.0 to PTC Creo
• PTC Creo models are easily
leveraged in both CNC and 3D
printing technologies
• Sectioning and editing tools make it
easy to capture views of internal
components and cross-sections
• PTC Creo is affordable and existing
Pro/ENGINEER data doesn’t
require conversion
R e s u l t s
• Thousands of legacy parts were
quickly and easily incorporated into
new aircraft designs
• FourthWing delivered its new
agriculture focused unmanned
aircraft system in 6 months, half the
time usually needed, which was
critical for meeting demand for the
2014 growing season
• PTC Creo is valued by the team for
its ease of use
• Using sectioning and editing tools,
review data can be set up in ¼ the
time

FourthWing spun off from a larger company in January 2014 and had just 6 months to produce its first product, the Vireo, if they hoped to get in the field in time for the 2014 growing season. The Vireo is a 3 pound unmanned aircraft system that farmers use to evaluate the health of their field, often on a weekly basis. That leads to better crop management, as well as more profitable decision making for those in the agricultural business.
The team at FourthWing bring 10 years of experience in aerospace engineering to their company.
